Border Extreme Cleaning was set up by Mike Telford in partnership with Nathan Smith, when we saw a niche in the cleaning market through our previous work in pest control. We realised that there was a real need to highlight the dangers of biohazardous waste cleaning. Having worked on a lot of very messy pest control jobs across all areas of Carlisle and the surrounding area we observed that people seemed unaware of the risks involved in handling the type of waste left over after pest control. We realised there was an opportunity to provide top-class cleaning solutions, as we removed unnecessary risks for our existing customers.
We went on all the relevant training courses to make sure we were up to date with the most recent best practises. With that training and 11 years of experience in the field, we are committed to providing a safe professional extreme cleaning service to the highest standard available in Cumbria, The Borders region and Northumberland.
Mike Telford - Extreme Cleaning Guru
Mike is fully trained in cleaning and has over 35 years’ experience in all aspects of pest & bird control. He started the very successful Border Pest Control in 2008 after leaving M.O.D Longtown following 25 years’ service, where he gained experience of pest control and other environmental services.
After extensive training that includes crime scene cleaning, infection control, sanitising, deodorisation and biohazard cleaning and fogging, Mike is ready to tackle your most nightmarish cleaning challenges!
Nathan Smith - Crime Scene Cleaner Extraordinaire
Nathan has been involved with Mike's pest control business since 2008, straight after leaving school. Over the years he has attended numerous training courses and most recently received specialist training in Crime and Trauma scene cleaning with the National Academy of Crime Scene Cleaning (N.A.C.S.C).
This is the key training course in the UK for dealing with scenes of crime. Border Extreme Cleaning are the only independent company in Cumbria trained by and accredited to the N.A.C.S.C. standard.

Clearing up after undiscovered deaths, criminal trauma and animal fouling can be distressing and has significant risks attached to it. Due to the risks involved from HIV and Hepatitis infections, this is a specialist service that should only be carried out by qualified and experienced technicians. Never attempt to undertake body fluid clean up services or commence work on a property that contains, or is suspected to contain, any blood or body fluid contaminated items.
